Following the Myanmar Military Coup, many of us from different organisations representing various ethnicity groups, religions, professional associations and students across Australia have participated and assisted with various activities including (protests, CDM fund raising, lobbying, prayer/candle light, etc) in our limited capacity with a single common goal of assisting people of Myanmar.
Despite our best efforts, campaigning and intention, the public awareness of Myanmar and government assistance from Australia is unsatisfactory in comparison to countries such as Korea, and Japan. We feel that this is due to an overload of information on social media and organisations were sharing limited resources within the community without visibility of each other. This loss of alignment consequently results in further strain on our resources and less effectiveness as we continue.
ABCD Network will be launching a website platform allowing different community groups, organisations, individuals to plan and promote events, share feedback and advertise. This will eliminate events happening at the same time. The website will provide information such as a directory of organisations including contact details, for our community to look up, updated news, visa applications, etc.
In addition, ABCD Network, with experience of promoting diversity and cultural awareness of Myanmar at the public arenas such as Darling Harbour, are planning to stage a similar event re-orchestrating 2021 people movement with the participation of the Sydney Myanmar community in iconic venues such as the Opera House. There will be further announcements once the venue and planning are confirmed.
We welcome all associations and groups within our community to offer and share ideas regarding the website and the upcoming event.
Strength in Unity.
